citifield“Ken Tremendous”, better known as one of the co-creators of Fire Joe Morgan and Parks & Recreation, pegs the All-Star Game best:

The MLB All Star Game: it counts, but it’s just for fun, but home field relies on it, but every team must be represented, but fans vote, but

It’s fun… but it’s dumb. That’s sort of what makes it fun, I guess, or at least it did when I was a kid and no one pretended it actually “mattered”. Anyway, it’s still the best All-Star game of any of the four major sports; the NFL Pro Bowl is so irrelevant that they may discontinue it, and the NBA & NHL events are a no-defense rough facsimile of their sports. In mid-July, there’s no other sport on the map, and that’s the way I like it. Clayton Kershaw, the lone Dodger, will pitch the third inning for the National League.
