Rockies 3, Dodgers 1: A Much Needed Break

nolasco_2013-07-14Not a whole lot to say about this one, really. Ricky Nolasco was fine but not great, allowing a big two-run homer to Michael Cuddyer in the fifth, and the suddenly struggling Dodger offense couldn’t do a whole lot against Jhoulys Chacin to help him out. Both Yasiel Puig & Carl Crawford eventually made it into the game, with Puig flying out to deep center to end it — with bat flip! — and the once again injury-riddled Dodgers enter the break at exactly .500, 47-47, and 2.5 games behind the Diamondbacks.

If you’d known on April 1 that the Dodgers would be .500 right now, you’d have been unbelievably disappointed. If you’d known that on June 1, you’d have been beyond thrilled. It’s been a weird first “half”, but we at least have reason to watch the second. I’m not sure we could have said that just a few weeks ago.
