Diamondbacks @ Dodgers August 31, 2012: Cahill vs Harang

Matt Kemp is back, and all is right with the world. Or at least it would be, if the team would finally start hitting. For the first time in more than a year, since August 21, 2011, Kemp is hitting cleanup. In theory, Adrian Gonzalez hitting third in front of Kemp sounds wonderful, but games aren’t won in theory.

In Kenley Jansen news: well, there’s no middle ground here.

All or nothing. Come onnnn, good news.

Finally, in totally unrelated news, I’m quickly becoming a closet Houston Astros fan, particularly now that they’re moving to the AL next year. They’re doing their teardown in totally the right way – trading anything and everything that’s nailed down, even if it means short-term pain – and earlier this year, they hired Mike Fast, one of the top minds at Baseball Prospectus. They didn’t stop there, trying (and failing) to get Keith Law of ESPN, and today they’ve made the most interesting hire of all: Kevin Goldstein, also of BP. I have no idea if this will all work, but it’s fascinating.
