Diamondbacks @ Dodgers July 30, 2012: When Are We Going To Get To the Fireworks Factory?

I can’t even begin to discuss all the craziness that’s gone on in the rumor mill today… so I won’t. For all the posturing, for all the sources, for all the suggestions, for all of the hilarity that is certainly going on behind the scenes, there’s still no moves to report for the Dodgers. But what that means, with the 4pm ET trade deadline tomorrow a good six hours ahead of the scheduled first pitch of the Dodger game, is that the lineup you’re seeing tonight is almost certainly one you’re never, ever going to see again. When you’ve got Juan Rivera still hitting second against a righty, that is in no way a bad thing. (Despite the proclamations of some that James Loney is “heating up”, he’s still getting benched against righty pitching. While there’s certainly a fine argument to be made that his superior defense and Rivera’s general lousiness makes this a poor choice, it mostly just shows how little Don Mattingly thinks of him at this point. Not that I can really disagree.)
